【「良率」是微型 LED 普及前提,少一個 9 都不行!】

著眼於反應快、功耗低、亮度高、色彩細膩、使用壽命長及元件相對簡單等優點,MiniLED 和 MicroLED (μLED) 被視為新興顯示技術,但在 LED 晶粒 (Die) 微型化的同時,如何將數以萬計的晶粒「巨量轉移」(Mass Transfer) 到基板 (Substrate) 或 PCB 背板,是業界公認的關鍵技術挑戰。領導廠商表示,「良率」是微型 LED 普及前提,須達到 99.9999% 方具競爭力,「少一個 9 都不行」!

然而,早期作法易受晶粒大小、解析度、像素密度 (PPI) 牽制,須事先另行加以分類 (sorting)、排列、就定位,工程浩大且耗費的時間和資金可觀,應對 MiniLED 尚可;若如法炮製在 MicroLED,恐因 LED 晶粒用量大增、致使成本暴漲百倍!新型「晶圓級貼裝」可省略事先分類、挑揀晶粒工序,相較於傳統不斷重複挑揀、貼裝 (Stamp Pick & Place) 的 3~5 萬顆產能,足足是 3~6 倍!

換算下來,每秒可貼裝 50 顆晶粒、每小時產能可達 18 萬顆晶粒,並兼顧集中準確度 (Ca) 與離散精密度 (Cp),一舉解決現有巨量轉移的弊端與痛點——在製程能力指標 (Cpk)>1.0 的條件下,貼裝誤差區間為 +/- 10μm,且不受藍寶石/玻璃/塑膠等基板材質或尺寸限制。更重要的是,「自動分類」有利於在同一批 4~6 吋晶圓上製作不同規格的 LED 晶粒或與 IC 混線生產。
